M A R É A
M A R É A — derived from the Italian word for “tide” — was designed to represent a quiet yet powerful force that continuously pulls two people back toward one another. It was designed for and inspired by a couple who commissioned Christiana to fully custom design a ring based on their love story, shared love for the ocean, and inspired by the love story of her grandparents while incorporating diamonds from her grandmothers heirloom diamond jewelry.
The sculptural setting curves around the center oval diamond like a wave in motion, a subtle nod to the couples shared love of surfing and their deep connection to the ocean. Rather than feeling rigid or symmetrical, the ring was intentionally designed with fluid movement and organic balance — representing a relationship that is beautiful not because it is perfect, but because it is uniquely theirs.
The center diamond symbolizes the love and energy at the core of it all — the force pulling together everything that came before and everything still ahead. Like the ocean tide, a wave is formed by the water both in front of it and behind it. In the same way, this ring represents how their past, present, and future all shape the life they are building together.
What makes M A R É A even more meaningful is the integration of heirloom diamonds from her grandmother’s ring, thoughtfully woven into the design to honor the legacy of love that came before them. Each of the small 5 round diamonds carries symbolism and intention. The smallest round diamond to the far right represents the generations of love before theirs. The two diamonds set closely together reflect the couple — drawn toward one another through every season of life. The varying shapes and placements of the remaining stones symbolize the experiences still to come: growth, change, adventure, challenges, and the beauty of navigating it all side by side.
The final diamond, placed furthest along the wave-like curve of the ring (towards the pinky finger) represents the promise to continue choosing one another every day, creating a legacy of love to last the future generations.
