Garnet
The Warrior's Stone
Garnet is a dark reddish-brown stone found mainly in northwestern India. It also serves as the January birthstone. Its name comes from the Latin name Granatum, a pomegranate, because granular varieties of garnet seemed to resemble the seeds of pomegranates. It is said that the only light on Noah’s Ark was provided by a Garnet stone. In Europe during the Middle Ages, Garnet was used to enhance truth, faith and constancy, and to dispel gloom. Garnet is called the Warrior's Stone, as it served as a talisman in the Crusades.
